A major wave of pressure on Viasna team began on September 17, 2020, when Marfa Rabkova, the coordinator of Viasna's volunteer service, was detained. Exactly one year later, on September 17, 2021, a campaign of solidarity with political prisoners and human rights defenders #FreeViasna was launched.

At that time, seven Viasna team members were behind bars, including a well-known Homel human rights defender Leanid Sudalenka, who was sentenced to three years in a penal colony and released this year in July.

During the event on Sunday, September 17, it will be possible to learn more about the #FreeViasna campaign, participate in a public conversation with Leanid Sudalenka, and send solidarity cards to political prisoners and human rights defenders who were sentenced to long terms for their peaceful legitimate activities.

We invite you to the Belarusian House in Vilnius: Vilnius g. 20., on September 17 (Sunday) at 4 p.m. The language of the event is Belarusian.

Recall that five Viasna team members are currently in penal colonies: chairman of the Human Rights Center Viasna and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ales Bialiatski, Deputy chairman of the Human Rights Center Viasna and Vice President of FIDH Valiantsin Stefanovich, lawyer and coordinator of the Human Rights Defenders for Free Elections campaign Uladzimir Labkovich, coordinator of Viasna's volunteer service Marfa Rabkova, and volunteer Andrei Chapiuk.
