Human rights activist Ales Bialiatski awarded Golden Laurels
On September 19, Pałac Prymasowski in Warsaw hosted the Złoty Laur – 2023 award ceremony, which recognizes individuals, institutions, and companies for their exceptional social and cultural activities. The award has 9 different nominations in a variety of fields.
The winner in the Personality of the Year nomination was Ales Bialiatski, a Belarusian human rights activist, founder of the Viasna Human Rights Center, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, who was sentenced by the Lukashenka regime to 10 years in prison.
At the invitation of the organizers of the award, the ceremony was attended by Viasna human rights activist Alena Laptsionak and Deputy head of the Joint Transitional Cabinet of Belarus, Head of the People's Anti-Crisis Department Pavel Latushka.
The award for Ales Bialiatski was received by human rights activist Alena Laptsionak, and Pavel Latushka spoke at the ceremony.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, a Belarusian political activist and candidate for president of Belarus in the 2020 presidential election, congratulated the laureates of the award from New York.
The Złoty Laur award has been given for ten years for activities that bring special benefits to the Polish economy, as well as for the socio-cultural activities of institutions, companies, and individuals who actively contribute to the development and enrichment of culture, the cultivation of traditions and the popularization of important social goals and the improvement of social conditions.
