Ales Bialiatski was placed to a punishment cell in the colony
Political prisoner, chairman of Viasna Human Rights Center, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize-2022, sentenced to 10 years in prison, Ales Bialiatski was placed to a punishment cell in the colony for fabricated reasons. Moreover, for a long time the human rights defender has not been allowed to see a lawyer. This was announced by his wife Natallia Pinchuk during her speech in Strasbourg at the World Forum for Democracy-2023.
The theme of the current World Forum for Democracy-2023, which takes place from November 6 to 8 in Strasbourg (France), is "Democracy = Peace?". Natallia Pinchuk once again reminded the European community about the political terror in Belarus and that Belarusians do not want to be part of a new Russian Empire. She also told the latest news from the colony about Ales Bialiatski and pressure on human rights defenders:
"Meanwhile, the Lukashenka Ministry of Internal Affairs declared Viasna Human Rights Center created by Ales and its information resources an "extremist formation." This means that the dictator considers the protection of human rights to be "extremism". Today, to achieve unconditional freedom for Ales Bialiatski, for all Belarusian political prisoners, to achieve freedom for Belarus means to defend the peaceful future of Belarus. And of Ukraine, and of our region, and therefore of the world as a whole. Freedom is peace," Natallia said.
Recall, on May 2, 2023, it became known that human rights defender Ales Bialiatski was transferred from pre-trial detention center-1 to correctional colony No. 9 in Horki. There he was engaged in woodworking. Now it has become known that for fabricated reasons he has been placed in a punishment cell and is not allowed to meet with a lawyer.
