Another political prisoner sentenced for 'Malicious disobedience to the prison administration'
On June 12, Žodzina City Court held a trial on political prisoner Yahor Ibrahimau, who was sentenced to four years in prison. He was charged under Part 1 of Article 411 of the Criminal Code ('Malicious disobedience to the prison administration'). The case was considered by Judge Katsiaryna Yakubitskaya. The outcome of the case is still unknown.
Yahor Ibrahimau
Yahor was born in Lida. He was convicted of participating in protests in 2020 under Part 1 of Article 342 (active participation in group actions that grossly violate public order) and Article 364 (violence or threat of violence against a police officer) of the Criminal Code. On May 25, 2021, Lida District Court sentenced him to four years in a penal colony.
It is likely that Yahor's sentence was changed and he was transferred to Žodzina Prison No. 8. The prison administration initiated a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 411 of the Criminal Code (malicious disobedience to the prison administration).
On June 3 and 12, 2024, the criminal case was considered in Žodzina City Court. Judge Katsiaryna Yakubitskaya presided over the trial. Human rights activists learn of the verdict.
It is known that Yahor has appealed against the court's decision. Minsk Regional Court is scheduled to consider the appeal on September 10. The decision will be made by the panel of judges chaired by Judge Aleh Lapeka.
