Brest regional branch of Viasna addressed Brest regional Prosecutor, urging to launch criminal proceedings against employers who force their workers, who applied for registration as local candidates, to quit the race. Viasna reminds the prosecutor that such actions should be punished under Art 185 of the Criminal Code. Viasna received 4 written appeals from people, who, in spite of the pressure, refused to withdraw their candidacy. We receive lots of verbal appeals with similar cases. Unfortunately, these people are afraid of even greater pressure, and are scared to lose their jobs.
