On May 30, 1999 fifty two people died in the jam in Niamiha metro station. Most of them were 13-22 year-old females. The 53rd victim, Siarhei Saladkevich, 19, died in hospital.
Today the families of the dead will gather to commemorate the victims of the "Niamiha" tragedy, informed Natalia Novakowskaya, head of “Niamiha-99” social aid center. On 30 May at 9.30 there will be a Liturgy at the Cathedral. Then we will come to the chapel near the metro station. In the evening the families will gather to remember their children together. After the concert the parents will again came to the underpass of Niamiha station to commemorate their children.
