Education Ministry Liquidates National Humanitarian Lyceum

On 27 June the Ministry of Education issued the ruling to liquidate Yakub Kolas National State Humanitarian Lyceum. This information was received from the lyceum vice-director, Liavon Barshchewski.

The dramatic events in the lyceum’s fate that have developed for a months already, have ended with this decision.

According to the ministry ruling, it is intended to establish new educational establishment that, according to preliminary information, will be called Minsk Humanitarian Lyceum and will have city status, whereas the liquidated lyceum had republican status.

The ruling says nothing about the fate of the old lyceum’s teachers. Mr. Faryn, vice-Head of the Education Ministry say that “private talk” will be conducted with each of them.
