Center of Youth Initiatives “Kontur” Liquidated

On 31 July Vitsebsk Regional Court ruled to liquidate the public association “Center of Youth Initiatives “Kontur”. The reasons for the suit was that

It’s worth mentioning that “Kontur” is the founder of the independent newspaper “Vitsebskaya Trybuna”, so by closing “Kontur” the State cab close the newspaper as well. However, Aliaksandr Shuntaw, editor of Orsha “Vitsebskaya Trybuna” edition, despite numerous reports in mass media, the newspaper would not be closed with “Kontur”.

The body “ editorial staff of the newspaper “Vitsebskaya Trybuna” belongs to the PA “Center of Youth Initiatives “Kontur” and can be transferred to another founder, besides, the newspaper is issued by the private publishing body “editorial board of the newspaper “Vitsebskaya Trybuna” registered at Vitsebsk Regional Executive Committee and is a juridical body. As the verdict about the “Kontur” liquidation hasn’t come in force yet, the newspaper editors have some time for seeking a way out.
