Persecution of “Mestnaya Gazeta “Shag” Is Going on

On 8 September founder of the Baranavichy “Mestnaya Gazeta “Shag” Anatol Vaytsiakhowski was summoned to Baranavichy City Prosecutor’s Office for the second time.

According to the Prosecutor’s assistant Zoya Zhuk, the department of the General prosecutor’s office on civil rights was dissatisfied with the testimony of Mr. Vaytsiakhowski at the first meeting. The officials still want to find out how did the articles by the “BDG” journalists appeared in “Mestnaya Gazeta “Shag” and who was the initiator. Anatol Vaytsiakhowski confirmed it once again that he personally proposed the “BDG” to publish its articles in his newspaper, as a sign of journalist solidarity.
