New Acts of Vandalism

At night between 13 and 14 October unknown persons defiled the monument to the Holocaust victims in Lida.

In his interview to Reuters Yakaw Basin said that this monument had been installed in the place where several dozens of Jews, fusilladed during World War II, was put 1,5 months ago. A representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs from Lida said that the criminal case on the fact had been already initiated.

“I can hardly tell whether the authorities take any measures, but for the last fifteen years none of the vandals have ever been found”, -- stated Yakaw Basin.

The Jewish community is concerned with the frequent defilements of monuments and the closure of the International Humanistic University, financed by Jewish organizations.
