According to Charter’97, on 6 April Valery Levanewski, son of the head of the Nationwide Strike Committee of the Republic of Belarus, was detained in Hrodna while handing out fly-sheets and the bulletin “Pradprymalnik” (“Businessman”) at “Karona” market. People in plain clothes came up to him and said they were the market guards, but refused to show their documents. They took U. Levanewski to Hrodna Leninski borough board of internal affairs, where he was kept for two hours. There a detention report was composed. Having confiscated the fly-sheets and bulletins, the police let Levanewski go.
