Detentions in Mahiliow

According to the press service of Belarusian People’s Front, on 27 July in Mahiliow activists of political parties handed out printed congratulations with the Day of Independence and informational materials of the People’s coalition “5+”. Vital Makaranka, the head of Mahiliow city organization of the BPF Party, vice-head Zmitser Salawiow and the member of the Party Soym Yury Holubew had explanatory talks with the city’s citizens. Members of United Civil Party and Party of Communists of Belarus took part as well.

At about 6.30 the police detained the BPF members and took them to a police station for “identification”. Then the “violators” were taken to Mahiliow Leninski Borough Board of Internal Affairs, where the police took from them explanatory notes and confiscated the printed materials.

-- Fortunately, we managed to hand out most of them. Only several copies were left for the police, -- said Zmitser Salawiow.

Holubew, Makaranka and Salawiow were detained of the police for about 2,5 hours.
