In Vitsebsk Region Two Persons Are Detained for Distribution of Newspapers

In the town of Sharkowshchyna the police detained the citizen of the town of Miyory, member of the United Civil Party Valery Karaliow who distributed the newspapers “Zhoda”, “Novy Chas”, “Tut I Tsiaper” and the fly-sheets of the pre-electoral coalition “5+”. The ehad of Vitsebsk regional UCP organization Henadz Ananyew was detained at the market of the town of Orsha where he distributed to vendors and customers the “Vremya” newspaper.
Mr. Ananyew, who is the editor of the newspaper, had to prove to the police that “Vremya” is officially registered and that its distribution wasn’t connected with his participation in the Parliamentary election and wasn’t prohibited pre-electoral agitation.
Orsha police detained Henadz Ananyew in the police point for about an hour. Valery Karaliow was detained for two hours. During that time the police phoned somebody and asked what to do with the detainee. Finally they let him go and left one copy of each newspaper to themselves.
