Krychaw Court Fines Potential Candidate to Deputies

Krychaw Town Court finished the trial on the case about insult to secretary of circuit election commission and punished potential candidate to deputies for it.

The secretary of Krychaw circuit election member of Belarusian Republican Youth Union Natallia Amelina charged the potential candidate to deputies of the Chamber of Representatives Mikalay Herdziy with insult to her as duty official. Mr. Herdziy is a member of Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada. He considers the trial as a means of pressurization and insists that this action of discrediting was organized by local authorities.

Judge Aksana Krotava found the defendant guilty and fined him 19 thousand rubles. Natallia Amelina refused to comment the results of the trial: she said it was her own business. Mikalay Herdzin called the court decision absurd as there were no witnesses and evidences proving the fact of the insult. He also stated that the results of the trial wouldn’t influence his nomination as a candidate to deputies and he would run in Krychaw electoral circuit.
