Slutsk Military Servants Are Ordered to Vote for Official Candidate

On 2 September military servants of one of the military units of the town of Slutsk informed Human Rights Center “Viasna” that the head of their garrison, to which several units belong, ordered them to vote for the candidate of the officials at the election. Officers and other contract servants and also fixed-period servants were ordered to vote for candidate Sayko on 17 October. Sayko is the head of Slutsk Town Executive Committee, representative of the executive “vertical”. It is prohibited to vote for other candidates. This oral order was addressed to all subordinates of the commandant of Slutsk garrison.

So, the authorities of Slutsk garrison purposefully issue illegal orders that violate the constitutional right of militaries and are of evidently criminal nature. Disobedience to the illegal and criminal order is quite dangerous to them as far as they are threatened with hard disciplinary punishment.

In Slutsk electoral circuit No. 89 there are pressurized ordinary citizens. They are also told to vote for Sayko. For instance, the director of Slutsk Town Bus Park No. 5 ordered workers of his enterprise to support nomination of this candidate and organize the collection of signatures in his support.
