Student Receives Ten Days of Jail for Fly-sheets

On 8 October the activist of the unregistered “Zubr” movement Aliaksey Liawkovich was arrested for posting of fly-sheets with the urge to come to Kastrychnitskaya Square of Minsk on 18 October for discussion of the results of the election. At Minsk Leninski Borough Court the Liawkovich didn’t deny having posted the fly-sheets. According to the new law on mass actions, those who urge others to come to unauthorized actions are considered as their organizers and punished for it. The police drew on Liawkovich one more report – for disorderly conduct, but could explain at the trial they failed to prove his guilt. As a result judge Liudmila Tserashkova found Liawkovich guilty only in organization of unauthorized action and punished him with ten days of jail. Aliaksey Liawkovich is a student of polytechnic college. It is his first imprisonment. Before that, the police composed on him reports for distribution of printed materials without issue data. These reports were considered by administrative commissions.
