Viasna Chair Meets with the UN Special Rapporteur on Freedon of Opinion and Expression

During the 61the Session of the UN Commission on Human Rights the chair of HRC Viasna met with Ambeyi Ligabo, the U-N's Special Rapporteur on freedom of opinion and expression. The special rapporteur paid a great interest to the situation of human rights in Belarus and the liberty of expression and distribution of information. Having received the complete information about the violations that have taken part in the country, Ambeyi Ligabo expressed the wish to visit Belarus and said he would negotiate with Belarusian government about it. Other ways of the international influence on the situation of human rights were discussed as well. The cooperation agreement between of HRC Viasna and the office of the Special Rapporteur was concluded.
