Tatsiana Klimava Visits Her Husband at Investigative Isolator
Andrei Klimau, deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the 13th Convocation, is kept in investigative isolator since 22 April. The investigation accuses him in organization of a street action on 25 March that allegedly led to mass riot.
Another criminal case against Klimau, brought for alleged defamation of Lukashenka, is at Minsk Piershamaiski borough court. The investigation prolonged the term of his preliminary detention till 22 June. It is the third criminal case against the oppositional politician. Andrei Klimau already spent a term in jail in 1998-2002 for alleged abuse of official powers and theft.
Tatsiana Klimava said:
-- Andrei refused to familiarize with the case materials. He says it is senseless to participate in this farce. Naturally, he is kept in the investigative isolator, which is not a recreation area. Despite this, he feels alright and is in a good mood. He looks even more confident than Lukashenka at presidential tribune during the parade of 9 May. I passed a parcel to him, and his is satisfied with it. I also passed books, but they haven’t reached him yet. The books are: literary studies by Lotman, two volumes about Nobel Prize winners, and I-Ching.
