Zhodzina-based branch of the Belarusian Language Association named after F.Skaryna faces liquidation
On 13 May the Zhodzina-based branch of the Belarusian Language Association named after F.Skaryna faces liquidation
The letter signed by the first deputy chair of the town executive committee Uladzimier Siamashka says that unless the public association changes its legal address "that meets the requirements of the housing law", "the town executive committee will pass a deregistration decision". According to the head of the Zhodzina-based branch of BLA Aliaxei Lapitski, the organization has been looking for premises in a non-residential building since it was registered. "We filed official requests with the executive committee that responded negatively. We were told that the town does not have any unoccupied premises for our organization", noted Mr. Lapitski.
Having received yet another request from the BLA, the executive committee chair replied that the town still had not free premises. After the BLA sent an official letter to the residential maintenance company, its head replied in the same way. "In fact, the situation is like this: there are available premises leased to some services, which cannot make any decisions without the executive committee's permission because they do not have the right to dispose of the premises, says A.Lapitski. The executive authorities have full control over available premises. And they say there are no premises". (NGO Assembly press service)
