Residents of Goeteborg, Sweden, raised funds for repressed people and political prisoners of Belarus
On 14 May the activists of the Goeteborg branch of the Swedish Society for Peace and Arbitration (Svenska Freds), that has twice won the Nobel peace prize, and is a permanent partner of the Human Rights Center Viasna, staged an action in the center of the city, which aimed at informing the residents of the situation in Belarus.
The action was under the historical Belarusian white-red-white flag and in the accompaniment of the group of musicians Circus Sol. Eva-Lena Ialmarsson, head of the Goeteborg branch of Svenska Freds, who made several visits to this country, answered the numerous questions of the passers-by about Belarus and about the human rights situation in the country.
During the action, donations for the repressed people and political prisoners in Belarus were collected. The collected funds will be used to help the Belarusian political prisoners.
