On 8 July Leninski Borough Court of Hrodna stopped hearings of the cases against journalists

On 6 July in the center of the city the journalists staged a protest demanding that the Union of Poles in Belarus be returned their newspaper Glos znad Niemna, and were detained by police. On Friday Judge Dzmitry Matsiuk in the presence of the lawyer of Aliaxandr Birylau considered the administrative cases against Inesa Todryk, Andrzej Pisalnik and Ivan Roman. Just like on Wednesday other journalists were not allowed inside the court. According to the head of the Hrodna branch of the Belarusian Association of Journalists Paval Mazheika, this time the judge denied access to the press saying that "it was not expedient that the journalists be present during the proceedings" because this "would add confusion and delay the case".
As a result, the judge imposed on Inesa Todryk a fine of 20 basic units (510 thousand rubles or 230 US dollars), Andrzej Pisalnik and Ivan Roman will have to pay a fine of 100 basic units (2 million 550 thousand rubles, or 1200 US dollars) each. We would like to remind you that several days before Ihar Bantsar was fined 510 thousand rubles, and Andrei Pachobut – 5 million 125 thousand rubles (about 2400 US dollars). Now Andrzej Pisalnik and Andrei Pachobut are expecting the administrative committee's decision because the police had also prepared a report registering their alleged violation "sanitation rules" (these journalists during the action on 6 July put their belongings on the grass in Lenin Square).
