Police searched S.Skrabiets's parents' apartment
On 27 July the police searched the apartment owned by Siarhei Skrabiets's parents, the younger brother of the former deputy Aliaxandr Skrabiets told Radio Liberty. He also said that on 26 July they searched his apartment. They took away his PC.
The police searched the apartment in Shuhaeu Street in Minsk, that is inhabited by the ex parliamentarian's parents because their older son Siarhei is registered there.
Aliaxandr Skrabiets says: "I had a call from Siarhei's son who told me they were searching the apartment in Shuhaeu Street. They also registered the furniture and other property, anything valuable. This is a legal procedure that is conducted right after the charges have been produced. Yesterday they searched my place, today – the parents's, where Siarhei is registered".
Aliaxandr Skrabiets is convinced that his brother will finally be charged with swindling the state out of credits when he was in charge of BelBabaeuski – the Belarusian branch of the Russian Trading House Babaeuski. This was the reason for the search.
The former deputy's brother is also in the case investigated by Viachaslau Tserakhovich, an investigator for especially important cases. This is what he says about his situation: "So they now started dealing with me. Yesterday I came to the investigation committee, from there they took me right to the procurator's office employee – Mr. Tserakhovich. It looked like I had been arrested – they had put me in the car with the police officers blocking the way on the left and on the right. I even phoned my wife: get a sports outfit and a pair of slippers ready. They interrogated me until the evening. My wife was taken home, which they searched. They took away the PC, various documents both that have relation to the case and are completely unrelated. And at the end of the day Tserakhovich said: we are not going to put you in detention yet".
Meanwhile, Siarhei Skrabiets's wife – Aliaxandra Skrabiets says that all the documents needed to transfer her husband from Brest Investigation Detention Center to Minsk have been prepared. So the former deputy may be transferred in a day or two.
