On 27 July the leader of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Paval Sieviaryniets was summonsed to the criminal and execution inspectorate of Pershamaiski Borough, where they told him to give up his passport and his military service card.
As the inspectorate staff explained the documents had been taken away because in a week Mr. Sieviaryniets will have to show up at the designated penal labor camp: next Wednesday he will be instructed on the specific location of the penal camp, which he will have to go to within three days.
Tsentralny Borough Court of Minsk punished Mikola Statkievich and Paval Sieviaryniets for organizing street demonstrations in Minsk on 18 and 19 October, during which mass disorders allegedly took place. The actions that occurred protested against the falsification of the election and referendum results. During the investigation amnesty was declared, which is why Mikola Statkievich and Paval Sieviaryniets will spend two rather than three years serving their sentence. A week ago Mikola Statkievich was summonsed to the police, where they took his fingerprints and took away his passport. The same procedure will be applied to Paval Sieviaryniets.
Mr. Sievyaryniets asked the police to provide him with a temporary substitute document for the rest of the week, but the police refused to do as asked.
