Mikalai Autukhovich stopped hunger-strike
The presidium of the Supreme Economic Court canceled the rulings taken by all previous courts and sent the case of the Vaukavysk businessman Mikalai Autukhovich for reconsideration. Because of this decision Mikalai Autukhovich who had been on a protest hunger-strike for 9 days said he would stop the hunger-strike, said Radio Liberty.
This was the third hunger-strike kept by Mikalai Autukhovich since 2003 when the taxation committee of Vaukavysk issued a fine worth one million dollars. Alleged violations of the taxation law were the reason. Mr. Autukhovich has complained against this decision in courts of all levels for two years. To protest again the unfair decisions he kept three hunger-strikes. The ruling taken by the Supreme Economic Court with Viktar Kamiankou at the head, Mikalai Autukhovich viewed as a victory: "We did not even hope this could happen. I thought they would be finishing me up. I am very happy, I will stop the hunger-strike hoping the reconsideration will be fair. Because if they had wanted to punish us they would have done so".
