Ambassadors of EU Countries and US Visit Narodnaia Volia Editorial Office

Heads of the diplomatic missions expressed their support to the editorial board of Narodnaia Volia daily newspaper. Brian Bennett, Ambassador of the UK that is the present chair of the EU, applied to the editorial board of the newspaper on behalf of all countries of the European Union and passed the EU declaration condemning pressurization of the independent.

Iosif Siaredzich, chief editor of the newspaper, told the diplomats about the hard situation of the newspaper and assured them that Narodnaia Volia will remain devoted to democratic values.

RFE/RL inquired at the Ministry of Information whether they received the EU Declaration. Viktar Kazlou, assistant of the minister, answered the ministry hadn’t received it.

Three latest numbers of the newspaper have been printed abroad, in Smolensk. Subscribers received 16 000 copies through Belposhta state distribution net. 4 000 more (Narodnaia Volia had to decrease the circulation from 27 000 to 20 000 copies) are distributed free of charge with the assistance of political parties and public organizations and workers of Narodnaia Volia. The newspaper can be also received directly at the newspaper’s editorial office.
