Forensic Medical Examination found craniocerebral injury to be reason for Narodnaia Volia journalist's death

Forensic medical examination of Vasil Hrodnikau, a journalist found dead on 18 October in his house in Zaslaul, established the death had been caused by a craniocerebral injury, said the expert of Minsk Regional Hospital to Radio Liberty. The police and the procurator's office will find out whether this death was a violent one or not.
A writer Mikalai Hrodnieu, Vasil Hrodnikau's brother, already said that he did not rule out murder committed for reasons other than domestic or criminal involvement of his brother. He referred to the state his brother's house was in: blood stains in different rooms, personal belongings scattered all over the place, broken items of furniture.
In spring Vasil Hrodnikau had been beaten so badly that had to be taken to the hospital, said his nephew Andrei Hrodneu. He did not tell anyone what had happened to him. Andrei Hrodnieu also believes that the state of things in the dead man's house aroused suspicion: "I do not know. There was blood on the wall, around the fireplace, at the entrance door threshold. It's either he walked around, bleeding, or was pulled around, let them find out".
Why the journalist died is, however, still unknown. The Zaslaul police handed the case over to the Minsk District Procurator's Office, which shows its importance, however, the procurator's office did not say on 19 October whether criminal proceedings had been instituted.
The journalist will be buried on 20 October in the Northern Cemetery, Minsk.
Vasil Hrodnikau was one of the oldest authors of the Narodnaia Volia. The newspaper published his sketches and articles on acute problems of society. He was awarded an Anatol Maisenia prize, a prestigious journalist award. At the same time, Iosif Siaredzich, the Narodnaia Volia editor, said that he does not see reasons for murdering the journalist for political reasons.
