Zubr activists detentions connected with the visit by Lukashenka to Mahilou
Andrei Paluda and Iauhien Suvorau were detained on 16 November in the evening on the Day of Solidarity with political prisoners, as they were coming back home. Their Ford was stopped by traffic police, as it was leaving Mahilou. The young people argue that the inspector noticed a Pahonia sticker attached to the rear window of the car. Two out of five Zubr activists were accused of having allegedly insulted the police officers and refused to fulfill their demands. Andrei Paluda and Iauhien Suvorau were taken to the detention center. The on-duty officer of Leninski Borough District Department of the Police refused to provide commentary on the situation to the Radio Liberty correspondent or give any information at all.
The Chair of the regional BPF branch Ryhor Kostusieu attributes such police actions to the “visit by Mr. Lukashenka”.
