Students of Belarusian State Economic University Are Pressurized for Collecting Signatures for Rehabilitation of Tatsiana Khoma
When one of the best students of the department of international economic relations Tatsiana Khoma was expelled from Belarusian State Economic University (BSEU), its student started to collect signatures in her support. When they gathered more than 500 signatures, the deans’ offices started to call students for “explanatory talks”. The university administration told the students BSEU was a state educational establishment, had to uphold the state policy and therefore also had to remand Tatsiana Khoma.
According to www.studenty.by, Tatsiana Khoma’s friends who live in BSEU dormitory #3, were visited by the man who introduced himself as Uladzimir Mikalaevich. He also met with Tatsiana Khoma on 24 November, the day she was expelled from the university. He asked her about the activity of the National Unions of Students in Europe (ESIB) and their vision of Belarus.
On 1 December Tatsiana Khoma complained against the expulsion to the Ministry of Education. She became the first student who was remanded with the formulation “foreign travel without permission of the administration”. We should remind that according to the Constitution of Belarus, every citizen has the right to free movement on the territory of Belarus, the right to leave the country and return to it.
