In Svietlahorsk five participants of the "16" Solidarity Action were detained
On 16 December at 7 p.m. in Svietlahorsk outside a trading center the police attempted to stop the solidarity action “Kindle a candle!”, five participants were detained and taken to the police station.
Among the detained are the chair of the district branch of the Belarusian Language Association Telman Masliukou, the deputy head of the District Branch of the Party of Belarusian Communists Mikalai Mikhalkievich, and also three young activists - Andrei Muzychenka, Vadzim Danilchanka and Ruslan Liutarevich. The young activists were photographed in the station and had their fingertips printed.
According to the information provided by the deputy head of the police Piotr Zykun to Radio Liberty, Mr. Masliukou was accused of distributing printed materials in the name of the unregistered organization Zubr, however, he was released after proving a written explanatory note.
Mikalai Mikhalkievich was accused of not following the orders of the police.
