The Committee for Protection of Journalists (CPJ) is concerned over the deportation of Agnieszka Romaszewska, a Polish journalist, from Belarus
On 15 December the international journalist organization adopted a special statement with regard to this event.
“We are indignant at the deportation of Agnieszka Romaszeuska and demand that the journalist be allowed to get back to Belarus and freely work”, said the executive director of the Committee of the Protection of Journalists Ann Cuper.
Also the statement made by CPJ in connection with the continued persecution of journalists in Belarus notes that Ms Romaszeuska became yet another Polish journalist deported from the country. The Committee for Protection of Journalists reminds that in August Adam Tuchinski, the photo journalist of the Pszekruj magazine. Several months before that the Belarusian authorities did not allow entry to the country to the Polish journalist Martin Smialowski who had both the Belarusian visa and accreditation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They were all deprived of the possibility to carry on with their professional duties without any explanation from the Belarusian authorities, reported the press service of the BAJ.
