Journalist of Hazeta Slonimskaia Not Admitted to Sitting on Nomination of Delegates to 3rd All-Belarusian Assembly
According to BAJ press-service
On 3 February the journalist of the non-state newspaper Hazeta Slonimskaia Ianina Maslava wasn’t admitted to the local palace of culture where the sitting on nomination of delegates to the 3rd All-Belarusian Assembly took place. The palace guard referred to the order of Valery Badzei, chair of the staff department of Slonim District Executive Committee not to let unwanted people into the building. Ianina Maslava asked Mr. Badzei to comment on his order. He refused to talk to her and said she should ask the chair of the executive committee Anatol Tsiarenin. Ianina Maslava reminded Tsiarenin that non-admission of journalists to public events was a violation of the law on press. He answered:
-- I know that I violate the law, but there’s another law that lets me not to admit you to the sitting – it is the law of those who have the power.
