Vaukavysk: Vice-chair of City Headquarters of Aliaksandr Milinkevich Charged with Graffiti

At night of 5 February in the center of Vaukavysk there appeared numerous political graffiti. The police brought a criminal case on the fact. During the check-up the investigation started to suspect in this action Vadzim Saranchukou, deputy chair of Hrodna city headquarters of the leader of the democratic forces Aliaksandr Milinkevich.

Vaukavysk district procurator sanctioned the search in Saranchukou’s flat. At 10.50 p.m. the police conducted the search confiscated the paints that belonged to Vadzim’s father, artist who makes lead panels.

Vadzim Saranchukou thusly commented to HRC “Viasna” on the search:
-- This is evidently a premeditated and organized action aimed at pressurization of members of the regional headquarters of Aliaksandr Milinkevich, because I was not the only person to be searched. At the same time the police searched Andrei Mialeshka’s house and tried to search Iauhen Skarabutan’s. Of course, the authorities will use all possible means for intimidation of activists and graffiti are only pretext, because they don’t even explain why they suspect me and during which check-up they came to this suspicion.
