Barys Vyrvich, Editor of Pakhodnia, Detained in Village of Mashchanitsa
In the morning of 28 February, on return from the council of the editors of small-circulation newspapers in Minsk, the police detained the editor of Bialynichy-based non-state newspaper Pakhodnia Barys Vyrvich. He was detained in his house in the village of Mashchanitsy. The police took him to a police station and reported he threatened to them and swore. From the police station they took him to the local court for a trial. However, there they had a great surprise - Mr Vyrvich is a people’s accessor of the court and therefore he couldn’t be tried there.
We should remind it is already the second detention of B.Vyrvich this year. He associates these actions with the fact that his newspaper Pakhodnia consequently supports Aliaksandr Milinkevich, the candidate of the democratic opposition at the presidential election.
