Slonim: Agitation for Milinkevich Is Prohibited
Members of an agitation group of Aliaksandr Milinkevich in Slonim were hanging the agitation materials in the places that were defined by Slonim District Executive Committee. The administration of some enterprises and organizations knew nothing about it and didn’t allow posting the candidate’s photos and electoral programs. However, in the majority of places the group managed to do it. They asked the administrations to show the places for posting the agitation and put the materials there. Two days later none of the materials hanged on their places - they were removed. This order was given to ordinary workers by the chairs of the city’s cities and institutions who allegedly didn’t know that Slonim CEC defined the places for the agitation.
The chair of Slonim District Election Commission Alena Machalina stated the agitation was posted in wrong places and therefore was removed:
-- They happened to post the materials in wrong places. In order to hang something it is necessary to apply to the head who will tell where it could be done. They shouldn’t have posted the materials on every pillar and door.
On 1 March the activist Ivan Sheha took a complaint concerning the incident to Slonim District Election Commission and also prepared a complaint to the procurator’s office and the Central Election Commission.
