Minsk: Two Criminal Cases Are Brought against Candidate to Presidency Aliaksandr Kazulin

The special note of the General Procurator’s Office of the Republic of Belarus states that two criminal cases were brought against the candidate to the presidential position Aliaksandr Kazulin. One of the cases covers the incident of 17 February, the day when the candidates to presidency were registered. On that day Mr Kazulin, together with activists of his electoral headquarters, burst into the building of the National press-center, where his press-conference was to have taken place. According to the procurator’s office, ‘Kazulin and the persons who companions insulted and used physical violence towards the guards of the concert hall Minsk and a policeman’. As a result, on 1 March the procurator’s office brought a criminal case for ‘malignant hooliganism’, Kazulin being a suspect.

The second criminal case was brought against Kazulin for his behavior at the police station after the detention on 2 March, when he and his companions tried to enter the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly. At the police station he smashed a portrait of Lukashenka.

For the attempt to get to the assembly there was brought an administrative case on the article ‘petty hooliganism’.
