Drahichyn: Police Detain Agitator for Milinkevich Vasil Prakopchyk

On 11 March the local police inspector detained the agitator for Aliaksandr Milinkevich Vasil Prakopchyk and composed on him a report for alleged violation of article 143 of the Code of Administrative Violations (anti-sanitation). The agitator was distribution information about the upcoming meeting with Milinkevich among the citizens of Drahichyn. However, at the police station 93 invitations and 13 large posters with Milinkevich were confiscated from him, as a result of which many citizens were deprived of information about the meeting. Nevertheless, the meeting took place.

In addition, Mr Prakopchyk wasn’t read his rights and detained at the police station for 8 hours, whereas the law allows detaining a person without charges only for 3 hours. During all this time the deputy chair of Drahichyn District Board of Internal Affairs major Brenko ‘identified’ the detainee with the assistance of the regional board of internal affairs.
