Orsha: Arrests of Public Activists

At 8 a.m. on 14 March in Orsha the police detained the chair of Orsha electoral headquarters of Aliaksandr Milinkevich Vasil Leuchankau and took him to a court, where the judge Burakou started the consideration of the administrative case against him. Mr Leuchankau was accused of organization of the electoral meeting with Milinkevich in Orsha City Park without permission of Orsha City Executive Committee. The witness of the accusation was the chair of Orsha City Election Commission Natallia Zakharenkava, who wrote the delation to the chair of Orsha City Board of Internal Affairs about it. The announcement of the court verdict was postponed till next Wednesday. It was decided to keep Vasil Leuchankau in custody till that time.

The same day the judge Dzmitryieu sentenced the activist of Orsha electoral headquarters of Aliaksandr Kazulin Vasil Berasneu to 7 days of jail. V.Berasneu was detained in the evening of 14 March and spent the night at a police station. The chair of Orsha City Election Commission Aleh Kazlou and the chair of the ideological department of Orsha City Executive Committee Leanid Furs sued Mr Berasneu because he allegedly insulted them.
