Minsk: Police Disperse Picket in Support of Expelled Students
According to www.belngo.info
On 17 March in Minsk a picket in support of Liudmila Asipenka and Ales Kartsel was to have taken part near Belarusian State Pedagogical University. The students that gathered for the action were dispersed by the police and the university guards, who also put down the passport data and searched the belongings of those who came to take part in the picket.
The order for the expulsion of Liudmila Asipenka and Ales Kartsel from BSPU was signed on 14 March. The official reason is ‘systematic violations of the educational discipline and internal regulations of the higher educational establishment’ though the students had problems neither with studies, nor with discipline. The ‘unofficial’ reason is their participation in student movement.
On 17 March for similar reasons the administration of historic faculty of Belarusian State University expelled Ryhor Shkurynau and gave rebukes to two other students.
