Navapolatsk: Member of Conservative-Christian Party BPF Anatol Kulik on Hunger-strike of Protest

At about 3 p.m. on 8 April in Navapolatsk (during A.Lukashenka’s inauguration in Minsk) the member of Conservative-Christian Party BPF Anatol Kulik started a hunger-strike of protest. ‘I started this action to protest against the violent treatment of the Belarusian citizens by the authorities in Minsk on 25 March and also against the so-called ‘election’, the winner of which was declared the man that doesn’t even have the right to run for presidency. By my hunger-strike I’d like to show that the civil resistance to the violence is not over. The resistance is going on and I would like as many people as possible to know about it.’

Anatol Kulik is going to hunger for two weeks. He still continues to go to work to a private company in Navapolatsk. By the way, he conducted his first hunger-strike in 1991. That time he and six other persons hungered for two days at the central square of Navapolatsk to protest against the decision of the local authorities to expand the harmful industries at oil-processing enterprises.
