You Can Write Letter of Solidarity to Mikita Sasim Who Can Be Sentenced to 3 Years of Jail

On 16 September 2005 in Minsk the police dispersed the action in support of the missing public and political actions. They tore from the action participants their flags and posters with the faces of the missing people. This day Mikita Sasim raised his jeans coat on the flag-stick. Then he was beaten by the riot police into brain concussion and was hospitalized.

On the eve of the election, 14 March, the riot police again suddenly arrested him on the street. At the police station he felt bad. As a result, Mr Sasim was taken to hospital and operated on appendicitis. On 16 March the police took Mr Sasim from hospital to his native city, Baranavichy. There he spent a week in the local hospital under police supervision, hand-cuffed to his bed. A week later he was put into investigative isolator. The criminal case for ‘evasion from military service’ was brought against Mikita Sasim. In the case he is found guilty, Sasim can be sentenced to up to 3 years of jail.
