BHC issued final report on Belarus presidential election
Belarusian Helsinki Committee released the report The Presidential Election in Belarus: Independent Research Results.
The report deals with Belarus international obligations in the sphere of elections and election legislation. It also comments on the peculiarities of the 2006 presidential campaign.
Over 300 BHC representatives took part in monitoring the election all around Belarus, whose possibilities were considerably reduced by the authorities.
BHC arrived at the conclusion that the election was marked by numerous violations of the Constitution, election laws and international agreements, which considerably affected the outcome of the campaign.
The report will traditionally be sent to the Presidents administration, the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums, the General Prosecutors Office, as well as to foreign embassies and various international organizations.
