Representatives of Ukrainian intelligentsia, including famous writers, artists, journalists and public activists, intend to address their president with the request to impose sanctions on Belarusian officials accused of human rights violations by the EU.
According to Ukainskaya Pravda newspaper, they demand to declare 36 Belarusian officials persona non grata in Ukraine.
Apart from that they are planning to organize an action called What is the price of Belarusian freedom of speech?. It is supposed to be joined by the deported Belarusians and Ukrainians.
At the same time, Vasiliy Filipchuk, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry press-secretary, said that, due to the increase in inter-state trade, it is impossible to impose sanctions on Belarus.
