Acting US Ambassador Is Not Allowed to Meet Political Prisoners in Belarus
At his press-conference the acting US Ambassador Jonathan Moore stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus didn’t allow him to meet with the political prisoners who are kept in the investigative isolator of the main department of internal affairs of Minsk City Executive Committee: former candidate to presidency Aliaksandr Kazulin and the activists of the civil initiative Partnership Mikalai Astreika and Tsimafei Dranchuk.
It’s not a secret that we have quite complicated relations with the Belarusian authorities’, said Jonathan Moore. We can’t but criticize the actions of the Belarusian regime including persistent violations of international democratic norms and human rights. The US continues calling the Belarusian regime to unconditionally release all political prisoners’.
