Activists of the Unrecognized Union of Poles Interrogated
On September 28Anzhalika Borys was invited to a police department for interrogation. Investigator Natalla Haidash was interested in her activity as a chairperson of the Union of Poles in Belarus.
Anzhalika Borys receives visits investigators’ offices every time she is summoned. She counts the number of times she was interrogated. She told RFE/RL that was the 77th time when she was summoned for interrogation: “I refused to testify. They asked questions about my present activities – why I was organizing events for the Union”.
Anzhalika Borys says this is a senseless question for her: 18 months ago she was elected chairperson of the Union of Poles by convention delegates; she is doing her job as the leader of the Union. Ms. Borys believes she has nothing to tell to the policemen.
The police also interrogated Veslau Kieuliak about the Union’s newspaper Glos znad Niemna in Exile. The Union’s activist Mechyslau Yaskevich and the Union founder Tadeusz Gawin were summoned for interrogation to the prosecutor’s office.
