Unknown Persons Make Graffiti on Building of New Life Church
According to www.charter97.org
Today in the night the unknown smeared in black paint the building of Minsk Protestant church New Life. Under a Bible quote on the faзade of the building hooligans wrote in black paint: ‘No to totalitarian sects!’
On Saturday members of the church stopped the hunger strike which lasted for 23 days, however their protest continues. The believers demand the authorities to recognize the building of the church a worship building officially, and allowed them to hold services there. They also demand to review the law on freedom of conscience which derogates from rights of Protestants.
Today, on 1 November the church’s juridical service filed with the Cassation Board of the Supreme Economic Court the request to suspend the implementation of the decision of Minsk City Economic Court concerning the forcible ransom of the building by the city administration. This request is caused by the ruling of the Presidium of the Supreme Economic Court to find invalid the decision of Minsk City Executive Committee to deprive the church of the owed piece land and building. The consideration of the cassation complaint against the forcible ransom of the church by the city administration will be considered by the Cassation Board of the Supreme on 16 November.
