Anzhalika Borys Is Interrogated in KGB

Yesterday the chairperson of the Union of Poles in Belarus Anzhalika Borys was interrogated in Hrodna regional KGB directorate for the first time. She is a witness for the criminal case of drug trafficking, the latter being classified as a political provocation by the UPB Head Council. The interrogation lasted for more than 4 hours.

When the interrogation started, Anzhalika Borys’ attorney was not allowed in and she refused to answer the questions. Then the attorney, Uladzimir Kisialevich, was permitted to join the interrogation. Then Major Viktar Razhko, the investigator of special cases, said that the interrogation had to be videotaped. Anzhalika Borys disagreed, considering the fact that Belarusian TV had repeatedly used those kinds of videos in its documentaries.

However when recording was started, Anzhalika Borys refused to talk. In this way she achieved her aim and the filming was stopped. The investigator was interested in a wide range of questions, including the ones relating to activities of the UPB, its financing and contacts abroad.

Anzhalika Borys refused to sign the undertaking not to speak of the subject of the interrogations outside the KGB.

In the first part of the day a driver of Anzhalika Borys, Andzhei Lisouski, in whose car the drug had been found, was interrogated in the KGB. Earlier he was announced a suspect in this criminal case. Today he was requested to submit a written undertaking not to leave the place, and his passport was seized. However, Mr. Lisouski has refused to sign a non-disclosure document about the interrogation’s questions as well.

On 29 October at the border-crossing Pryvalka on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border the Audi car belonging to Andzhei Lisouski and driven by him was detained. There were two passengers in the car, one of them Anzhalika Borys. Customs officers found an unknown powder in the mirror of the car. Later the powder was identified as amphetamine.
