Krupki: Police Draw Report against Pentecostal Pastor

On 30 October the police composed a report on Mikalai Barycheuski, a Pentecostal pastor in Krupki, for leaving there without official registration. Mikalai Barycheuski is registered in Minsk, but has lived in Krupki since 1997 and is a pastor at a local church. The church is registered and even has its own temple.

Being asked about the reasons for such unexpected attention to the pastor, the policemen explained he caused it by his remarks about the Protestant church New Life, whose believers kept a hunger-strike of protest against confiscation of their building. They also showed to the pastor a paper from KGB informing Krupki district internal affairs department that ‘Mr. M.Barycheuski is registered in Minsk and lives in Krupki without registration’. KGB recommended police to apply ‘measures of administrative influence’.

Before this, on 23 November M.Barycheuski was summonsed to Krupki Town Executive Committee. They demanded from him to describe his attitude to the authorities.
