A criminal action on the fact of a blast in Frunze Avenue in Vitsebsk in the night of 8 December has been brought up under ‘hooliganism’ charges. As reported by RFE/RL, the case is supervised by the Republican Prosecutor’s office, like the cases of blasts in September 2005, when more than 40 persons were injured.

After the blast on 8 December two young people, a 16-year-old secondary school pupil and a 19-year-old student of the Veterinary academy were injured.

Aliaksandra Nestserava, who was placed to hospital with a little wound on her leg, has been already discharged. There are still some scratches on her face that were left by the splinters. Her friend Dzianis is in intensive care department. His arm is seriously damaged.

Right after the incident searches were held in the apartments of the both young people. Policemen were searching for explosives or other dangerous objects which could be the reason for the incident. According to reports of the press-service of the regional internal affairs department, a pyrotechnic device was found on the scene.

It’s worth mentioning that after the blasts in September 2005 the investigation agencies held mass searches in Vitsebsk, including the ones in the apartments of local oppositionists. Dozens of people were suspects in the both criminal cases. The youth activist from Zhodzina Pavel Krasouski was among them. However, real culprits were not found. On 3 November the deputy head on Organized Crime and Corruption Control department of Interior Ministry Uladzimir Tsikhinya told at a press-conference that ‘there are no suspects or detained in Vitsebsk blasts case’.
