Mahiliou: 1st Public Action by Young HR Activists
According to www.belngo.info
This time the Universal Day of Human Rights in Mahiliou was defined by activity of young activists of local human rights organizations. Their older friends took part in an action of solidarity with Belarusian prisoners of conscience in Minsk. They left to the younger ones fly-sheets, brochures with Declaration of Human Rights, fresh copies of the unregistered newspaper Svaboda and the Human Rights bulletin. Several groups of youngsters simultaneously appeared in different parts of the city, near shops, markets, bus station and at the central square. They had large badges For Freedom! on that attracted the attention of passers-by. Many of them took the proposed informational materials and spoke with the activists about the upcoming election, the hunger-strike of Aliaksandr Kazulin, the EU proposals to the Belarusian authorities and the measures to be taken for the country’s democratization. The action ended without any incidents.
