Baranavichy Journalist Banned from Meeting with Authorities?
BAJ press-service reports, deputy head of Baranavichy City Executive Committee Valery Lazitski refused to talk to citizens worried about facts of killing homeless animals in the presence of a reporter from an independent newspaper “Intex-Press”.
The official told the reporter Ludmila Prakopava to leave his office in spite of the citizens’ demands to let her hear their conversation. Workers from “Baranavitskaya Spetsautabasa” (the enterprise dealing with homeless animals) also came to the office.
Not long before some readers of “Intex-Press” complained about maltreatment of animals in Baranavichy and asked the newspaper to draw public attention to the problem. They wanted to know whether “Baranavitskaya Spetsautabasa” violated the Law on treating animals or not.
The reporter was not allowed to hear the authorities’ opinion on the problem.
